One way of increasing the web presence of your website is to submit your site to directories. There are thousands of such directories on the Internet and many, if not most, allow you to submit your site for free.
The problem with free submissions is that they usually take a few weeks to show up in the directory, going back to check whether your site is actually listed can be as time consuming as the actual initial submission was.
